The Domestic Abuse (DA) Alliance brings together organisations working on the frontline of domestic abuse with the civil legal sector to deliver legal assistance and protection for victims-survivors. The free to use WEPROTECT mobile app enables fast victim referral to ensure that appropriate civil legal support is actioned without delay. WEPROTECT is already being used by frontline officers across 8 UK Police Forces and by several IDVA services and charities who support victims of domestic abuse. You can also make direct referrals via the website and there is a telephone helpline for victims-survivors: 0800 101 7110.

A team of professional call handlers and caseworkers help demystify the civil legal process for those seeking support and, where appropriate, connects them to a firm of solicitors in the DA Alliance’s Legal Partner Network to seek an appropriate court order.

Referral partners can also access the WEPROTECT portal and view a customised dashboard displaying real-time data about victims’ journeys throughout the legal process. It is also possible to retrieve copies of court orders and statements of service through the WEPROTECT portal.

WEPROTECT is the only service of its kind to be independently evaluated by the University of Birmingham, through the Home Office What Works To Prevent VAWG Fund. This research is assessing the impact of WEPROTECT on reducing revictimisation and the mental health burden on survivors. It will also include an economic analysis of the cost to provide the service, against the estimated +£70 billion social and economic cost of domestic abuse.
